Hold Your Horse Is call it a day

By Ben Tipple

Sad news as the excellent Hold Your Horse Is call it a day. They announced their split on Facebook earlier today, stating:

“Nearly six years ago we decided to start this band and now we’ve decided to stop. This is for numerous reasons, none of which are any fun!

We set out simply to make the music we wanted to hear and enjoy ourselves. It feels good knowing that some of you have dug it as much as us.

We feel we’ve achieved and done so much more than we ever planned. We’ve put out one album, three EPs, three singles and a cassette, featured on five compilations, played over 200 shows from Falmouth to Thurso, once did three festivals in one day, made four videos, slept on countless floors, had songs played on Radio 1, XFM and Kerrang Radio, been interviewed on BBC 6 Music and had a double page spread (alongside naked ladies) published in FRONT magazine. We still find it nuts that people as far away as Japan, the USA and Australia have even heard of us, let alone ordered our CDs and T-shirts!

Along the way we’ve made some truly awesome new friends, but there won’t be a long list of thank-yous because we will forget too many. So to those who have lent or given us transportation, equipment, floors to sleep on, their money, their labels to release records on, their food, their promotion, their discount recording rates, their published words, their radio air time, their video filming talent, their kindness and their shows to play, and especially all you guys and girls who came to watch us play our songs and bought and listened to our music, you’re all rad. CHEERS!

As a farewell gift we’ve got some more songs to release before the end, we’re very proud of them and can’t wait to play them live. We will also be playing a final short tour ending in London on 26th April, please see below for the full list of dates. We would love to come and play some other places that week – if anyone can put us on please email holdyourhorseis@hotmail.co.uk.

Mad Love,

Robin, Chris and James
