From PA: “An 18-year-old man who died at the Reading Festival was named by police today. Kieran Griffin, from Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, collapsed at 5.13am yesterday and died despite his friends’ efforts to save him, Thames Valley Police said. A post-mortem was carried out earlier today but the coroner is now awaiting the results of toxicology and histology tests before the cause of death is determined. The results are expected to come through in about a week. Police said Mr Griffin’s death was not being treated as suspicious. A spokeswoman added: “There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances to the death, however as a matter of course CID and scenes of crime were called out.” Paramedics, on-site medical staff and Mr Griffin’s friends fought for nearly an hour to save him after he collapsed at a camp site near the festival area. Mr Griffin was then taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, Berkshire, but was pronounced dead. Emergency services attended another incident on the festival site yesterday when a man was trapped under a water tanker. He was later freed. Crime was down on last year with around 500 reported crimes and 60 arrests at the festival, which was attended by some 60,000 people and headlined by acts like Blur and Metallica.
The large majority were thefts from tents and from festival goers, with a number of drugs offences. There was an alleged indecent assault and an alleged GBH incident when a man had part of his ear bitten off.”
