Spunge jump on demand!

By paul

UK ska-punkers spunge have announced further plans for the rest of this year, including the release of a new single and new album.

In their latest newsletter, the band also stated they have been added to the Distortion festival line-up in Nottingham on July 20.

The newsletter reads:

“Here’s the latest news from the [spunge] ranks. The recording is going great down in deepest Surrey with Chris Sheldon and we all think you’ll find that this will be our best album to date when it comes out later this year (don’t ask us when, even we don’t know yet!). We should be starting mixing it early next month and hope to finish it shortly before the start of the tour.

“The single, ‘Jump On Demand’, has been sent out to rock clubs and with a bit of luck you might hear it played at your local joint. It got played last week on Radio 1 on Steve Lamacq’s show and if you want to hear it again then we suggest you e-mail him and demand (pardon the pun) that he plays it again. Alternatively, you can badger him to play one of the other three tracks that are finished already! You can e-mail Steve at steve.lamacq@bbc.co.uk to get him all [spunge]-d up! We should also be recording a session for him on May 3rd so listen out for that where we’ll be playing new tracks off the album live in the studio. So badger him now while you’re online!

“The video was also finished last week and should be aired real soon on the music channels. We have heard that Kerrang are likely to list it from Monday May 6th. So we’re asking for your support to show Kerrang that they’re missing a huge scene in their own backyard and we ain’t going away, by voting for us if the video is playlisted.

“As for the tour, the tickets are flying out now, over 4,000 sold with many of the provincial shows likely to sell out within the next two weeks. We really need your support on these shows and we’ve got some great support acts so get your ticket now. We know it’s exam time for a lot of you but, hey, everybody needs a bit of sweaty relief with all that pressure! You can get tickets for most of the shows online at www.spunge.co.uk for the next few days up to Wednesday May 8th before we have to take them off sale as we prepare for the tour. In case you’ve been on planet Zorg or something the dates, with credit card booking numbers, are as follows:

We’ve only got a short set early each day but if you’re going there we hope you’ll come in early and support us. For the full [spunge] experience though you need to catch us on the tour.

“All the new merchandise should be on the website real soon but you should all have received the latest newsletter by now with all the details on it. If you haven’t got it by Monday, then you either live in the Shetlands or we don’t have your postal address. You can rectify this by filling in the form on the website and we’ll update your details.

“Finally, as you all probably know by now, the single’s release date has been put back to June 3rd and we really need you to get it on the first week of release so make sure you pre-order yours from your local store during the last week of May. We won’t be selling the single on the tour or from the website so don’t expect to get it from us.

“Well that’s about all from us now and we hope to see you all on the tour.

Cheers,
Al, Des, Wol, Jem & Jarvis
[spunge]”
