The Ataris find sanctuary on own label

By paul

A message from the ataris: “We are pleased to announce that we have formed our own label, Isola Recordings, and that we have entered into an agreement with the Sanctuary Records Group for promotion, marketing and distribution of our future records. We are also pleased to announce that our new album, “Welcome the Night,” will be released in February 2007. As you know, we left Columbia Records a few months back after almost every key person who worked on our last album, “So Long, Astoria,” was either fired or quit. Although “So Long Astoriasold nearly a million copies on Columbia, and we are grateful for that, we decided that we did not want to put ourselves in a typical artist/label arrangement again. Luckily, we found a situation with Sanctuary Records Group and their distributor RED that allows us to control our own destiny. For those of you unfamiliar with Sanctuary Records Group, they released the last two Morrissey albums and work with The Charlatans UK, Rough Trade Records (The Libertines, Babyshambles, Belle & Sebastian) and Tegan & Sara, among others. We are excited to be working with everyone at Sanctuary and RED and look forward to touring the world again around the release of “Welcome The Night.”
