The Gospel Youth have unveiled the video for the latest track to emerge from their single series. ‘Hurricane’, available from today, was originally released among their online community a few days back. The band are currently releasing twelve crowdfunded singles over the course of a year.
“Before you listen to this song, I need you all to know something. I never have, and we never will write songs for no reason,” vocalist Sam Little told the band’s online community when unveiling the track earlier this week. “Those that know me well know that I’ve been through my fair share of hardships and tragedies and I will always try to put as much honesty and heart into my words as I can so I need to get this off my chest.”
“‘Hurricane’ is about a time, last year, where I made a stupid fucking decision to try and end my life. I genuinely couldn’t see the light in anything I did and everything overwhelmed me. I was in one of the darkest places I’ve ever been and combined with a bunch of mental health issues and general life problems, I had convinced myself that this world, everyone I knew and everyone I could ever meet would be better without me. But I was wrong.”
“‘Hurricane’ is dedicated to those people that stuck by me and gave me reason to exist. To my best friends, who stood by me and worked their asses off to try and fix me from the broken mess that I was. I am eternally grateful.”
“If you ever feel alone or like things are too much, please talk to someone. Please. Even if it’s me and you just wanna rant about how shit things are at 3am, I got ya. Life is too beautiful to throw away.”
The Gospel Youth will be hitting the road in support of Hands Like Houses from next week.
