How would Titus Andronicus describe their string section led remix of ‘Fired Up’? Grandma friendly, that’s how. But there’s an ominous, slightly unsettling atmosphere to the track that might just make grandma wee herself a little. Not least with Patrick Stickles’ vocals packing even more of a punch with the instrumentals stripped right back.
By the time the full instrumental range kicks in, it’s a whirlwind of noise. If your grandma likes this, she’s a pretty cool grandma.
‘Fired Up [Remix]’ will appear on the band’s final installment of their ‘Seven Seven Inches’ series, due in spring 2016. The original track appeared on this year’s ‘The Most Lamentable Tragedy’.
Titus Andronicus will be touring the UK with The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn (who, by the way is excellent live) in March 2016 (with one sneaky February date without Finn).
