Violent Femmes stream track from first new album in 15 years

By Ben Tipple

Following on from last year’s ‘Happy New Year’ EP, Violent Femmes have unveiled ‘Memory’ – the lead track from their forthcoming ‘We Can Do Anything’ LP, their first in 15 years.

“We’ve always done what we wanted and how we wanted,” says Violent Femmes’ Gordon Gano “Fundamentally there’s no difference from then until now. It’s a natural continuation.”

‘Memory’ showcases their blend of styles, not least the type of folk-punk that fans of bands such as Against Me! will have become accustomed to. As pioneers of this fusion, Violent Femmes began life back in 1981, releasing eight full-length records to date.

‘We Can Do Anything’ will be available from the 4th March via [PIAS]. ‘Memory’ is available as an instant grat when pre-ordered via iTunes, with CD and LP orders available too.
