Waterparks share new track, ‘Hawaii (Stay Awake)’

By Ben Tipple

Waterparks are continuing their release of new music with ‘Hawaii (Stay Awake)’, revealed through Pete Wentz’s Hits & Misses show on Sirius XM Hits 1.

“What’s special about ‘Hawaii (Stay Awake)’ is that it was the only song that was made before our last EP ‘Cluster’ was even done,” says vocalist Awsten Knight. “It was thiiiiis close to being track two on ‘Cluster’, instead of ‘Territory’. We loved both songs, so it was a tough choice, but we thought that the electronic, vocal-cut, pop-rock vibe was already covered well enough through songs like ‘Crave’ and ‘Pink’, so we chose ‘Territory’ strictly because it had a different feel than anything else from that release.”

“We told ourselves we’d save this song for the album but then kind of forgot about it, as we had written about 40+ more new songs after that time. Once we started sharing our new demos with close friends, they ALL freaked over ‘Hawaii’ and by that point we hadn’t thought about that one for a while, so we got to re-fall in love with it and decided it was the perfect opening track for our first album.”

The track is taken from their forthcoming ‘Double Dare’ release, due on the 4th November through Equal Vision Records. “Now go buy ‘Double Dare’ and get the pre-order package with the body pillows of us,” Knight continues. “But get me, Awsten. Mine smells the best.”
