Weekly News Round Up – 19/01/2014

Against Me! were in the news this week

Each Sunday, Punktastic writer Charlie Mock takes you through the unmissable news from the past week, making sure you don’t miss the latest in new music, tours, festivals and videos.

If you didn’t manage to grab tickets to the intimate Gnarwolves Cardiff gig that we’re putting on next month, then fear not. The Brighton trio have delivered the greatest title for a release that we’ve heard in ages with ‘The Chronicles of Gnarnia’ – a release compiling their first three EPs whcih is due for release very soon on LP, CD and tape.

In more Gnarwolves news, it’s been announced that they’ve joined the Hit The Deck 2014 lineup, with the festival announcing that Saves The Day, More Than Life, Nai Harvest and many more will join the already announced Brand New in April.

Hit The Deck wasn’t the only festival to announce new bands this week, with WTFest (Southampton) bolstering their “5.5” edition with Iron Chic, Bangers, Bear Trade and WOAHNOWS joining Real Friends, Modern Baseball and You Blew It in May – the latter three bands announced that show as part of their UK/EU dates for May 2014, which include a Punktastic Presents… show in Cardiff.

Against Me! streamed their brand new album, ‘Transgender Dysphoria Blues’ through NPR. It’s released tomorrow through Xtra Mile, and we’re already tipping it for a potential album of the year.

Taking Back Sunday have announced the track listing and date for the release of their new album, ‘Happiness Is’. The band spent an entire two years preparing for the release by writing and recording in a whole bunch of places across the USA – with a studio in the woods in the list of locations. The best part is that you’ve only got to wait until March 17th to get our hands on the record, and the first track premiered from the album sounds fantastic (listen to it below).

Strung Out will release a box set through Fat Wreck in April, containing remastered versions of their first three records. There’s also the band’s first ever DVD included in the package as well, which is full of never before seen footage.

La Dispute posted a new song online and upgraded / added UK show this week, and we can’t wait for the album drop through Big Scary Monsters this spring. It’s been a while since we’ve managed to catch the band as well, so this is all fantastic news for us.

Bright metallers Architects also posted a new song online this week. It’s quite a bit more brutal than the La Dispute one, but we reckon both are amazing. Their new album arrives in March through Epitaph Records and is shaping up to be a pretty heavy duty release from the band.

The Maine have been announced as main support on Deaf Havana’s forthcoming UK tour, returning to the UK for the first time since their Warped Tour UK appearance  (which also saw them play a set on our stage at the festival).

Seahaven have detailed the release of their new album, ‘Reverie Lagoon: Music For Escapism Only’, and it will be landing through Run For Cover Records in July.
