Twiddly DIY emo has been making its return for some time. Even pioneers such as Texas Is The Reason and American Football joined the resurgence with live shows, and possible new material. There’s a lot of it out there now; some great, some less great.

California Cousins are great. They don’t just rest on the style’s laurels. There’s much more to it than that. ‘Your Kitchen Floor’ might be the most-twiddly, but the twiddles* are ever-present even in their heavier moments.

In their ‘Your Kitchen Floor’ tour video, they even look like swell guys. So there’s that too.

*I have never used the word “twiddles” before. Fact.
