Day Old Hate premiere the video for ‘Don’t Chase Me’

By Ben Tipple

Leeds five-piece Day Old Hate are channeling a subdued Rocky in their latest video for ‘Don’t Chase Me’. Built around vocalist Oliver Swift’s crooning, the video depicts the protagonist fighting with unknown opponent, and by the looks of his eyes, his inner demos.

“We wanted to do a video that was a bit different from the ones previously, as they’ve always been band performance based and I think people are getting a bit bored of watching 5 guys jump about and play their instrument – it’s been done a million times,” the band explain.

“It’s quite an emotional song and the lyrics are based on the fact that it’s important to not get too hung up about the people that didn’t or don’t believe in you. The video itself shows someone who is training and striving to reach that end goal by making themselves stronger and better.”

“We wanted to show the struggle and the pain that the individual goes through as a way of showing how we sometimes feel as a band. I think Adam, the director of the video, did an amazing job of showing the struggle that the individual goes through both physically and mentally.”

‘Don’t Chase Me’ is taken from the band’s ‘First Light’ EP, released at the start of February. ‘First Light’ is available in physical and digital formats. The band also recently unveiled the video for the title-track.
