Exclusive: New Oxygen Thief video and merch project

By Ben Tipple

For the new 5-track EP scheduled for release on the 24th March 2014, Oxygen Thief’s Barry Dolan has stripped back his sound and returned to his acoustic roots. Although the yet-to-be-announced follow-up record is likely to see the Thief back with a full accompaniment, ‘One Day This Will All Be Fields’ allowed Dolan to select 5 exemplary tracks from a wealth of new material.

Ahead of its release, we are exclusively showcasing the brand new video for ‘Badge of Dishonour’, seeing Dolan pay tribute to the multitude of bands he has enjoyed, and his sheer dedication to t-shirt buying. Just imagine the size of his wardrobe…

Inspired by the video, Xtra Mile Recordings have launched their ‘Show Us Your Tees’ video project. In what’s highly likely to turn into an incredible video, Xtra Mile want you to grab your favourite band t-shirt, jumper or hoodie, record yourself posing (or doing what the hell you like) for a few seconds using Instagram or Vine, and then sending it to them via Twitter or Facebook. Use #OTShirts for all your social media-ings.

The clips will be pulled together into one super-awesome-merchtastic video clip to be shared around the world. Of course, if you think you can beat Barry, there’s always a challenge there too.

Check out the Xtra Mile website for full details of the project.

To get you inspired, here’s an exclusive look at Oxygen Thief’s ‘Badge of Dishonour’. There’s some excellent band merch here, and also, a nifty little song.

Buying the new record through Xtra Mile Recordings will give you two extra tracks, including a cover of The Wildhearts’ ‘Suckerpunch’, and Oxygen Thief original ‘On Your Easy Marks, Get Set, Go’.

Oxygen Thief will also be hitting the road in support of ‘One Day This Will All Be Fields’ both as a solo acoustic show, and supporting rockers InMe.
