First play of the debut Tinkerbelles EP

By Ben Tipple

Formed from the ashes of former Chicago oufit, Gypsyblood, Adam Mohundro and Christian Dawson have returned as trash-pop duo Tinkerbelles. Their debut record, ‘Fine Asses’, is due for release on the 28th October via Chicago label Teepeespeek Records.

In their characteristically tongue-in cheek manner, the band advertise the record on “piss yellow” vinyl, complete with artwork by Ryan Duggan – who has worked alongside Pissed Jeans and Iron & Wine.

“‘Fine Asses’ seven tracks were recorded entirely at 432 hertz instead of the standard 440. 432Hz is the new kelp for hipster audiophiles and is popularly believed to vibrate in unity with light, time, space, matter and gravity. So put that in your pipe and smoke it, International Standards Organization,” the album’s press release goes on to say.

Their sound is fittingly fast and brash. Distortion and reverb heavy, it carries with it enough attitude to rival the likes of Metz. ‘Fine Asses’ spits and screams, broken up by ominous interludes and gritty vocals. Tinkerbelles are made to be played loud.

Pre-order ‘Fine Asses’ via BandCamp.
