First play of the new Above The Underground video

By Ben Tipple

Clearly influenced by the melody driven post-hardcore era of Thrice and their ilk, Chester’s Above The Underground have channeled their musical upbringing into a heavier pop-punk sound, demonstrated on their two minute nostalgic barrage that is ‘Bring Me The Sun’.

Taken from their debut full-length ‘Sonder’, released back in January, the track bounces between more traditional pop-punk drum patterns and a melody that is determined to take anybody listening to music in the early naughties back to ‘The Artist In The Ambulance’.

“We shot the video in Blackpool with Bobby Pook of Scouts and Me Vs Hero,” the band explain. “We wanted something quite simple with no narrative so initially we had no idea how the final product would turn out, but it ended up looking great. Bobby did a really great job with it.”

Watch the video using the player below, and head over to their BandCamp to download ‘Sonder’ in full.

Above The Underground will be touring around the UK, Germany and Austria later this month.
