First Play of the new EP from Three Day Millionaires

By Glen Bushell

Whether you know it or not, the Yorkshire town of Hull has given us many things. The Housemartins formed there, David Bowies one time guitarist Mick Ronson is from there, and Lene Lovich was born there. You can now add Three Day Millionaires to that list of musical history, as we bring you the first play of their new self-titled EP.

“As soon as we had a handful of songs, five or six I’d probably say, we knew we had something” says vocalist Danny Harrison on the EP. “We knew we actually had a band, which at this point didn’t even have a name. The name is something that’s historically linked with Hull”. When speaking of the name, he continues “Three Day Millionaires were legends within the city. Real ballers as we’d probably say nowadays. We wanted something relatable, how many times have you been paid or got your student loan through and checked your balance on a Monday and though ‘shit…’? That also ties in with some of the lyrical themes in the album. Everything becomes so much more relevant as you get older. I look at what I haven’t got, rather than what I have.”

After recording an excellent session for BBC Introducing, and eyeing up some future tour dates, you can expect to hear a lot more from Hull’s finest new punk rock band. The band will also celebrate the release of the EP with a show tonight – July 24th – at the Haworth Arms in their hometown.

You can listen to how great the self-titled EP is in the player below, and you can pick up copies from Three Day Millionaires Bandcamp page.
