First play of the new Guerrilla Monsoon track

By Ben Tipple

Birmingham based Guerrilla Monsoon offer melodic punk with complimentary surf-pop to boot. ‘December’ takes the listener from the immediately gripping gruff opening to the melody driven summery vibes and the Californian-esque vocals.

Far from the dual vocal system that you might associate with the more commercial side of pop-punk, Guerrilla Monsoon manage to underpin their melody with a genuine edge. It stays between typical pigeon-holes, never falling too far into a classification.

‘December’ is taken from Guerrilla Monsoon’s forthcoming split with New York based Gameday Regulars, scheduled for release on the 4th August via Paper + Plastic Records and All In Vinyl. It marks the first release for Gameday Regulars since 2013’s ‘Nobody Likes A Quitter’, and the debut release by Guerrilla Monsoon.

“It feels like Spring in December”, they sing. With tracks like this, it could be summer all year round.

With a planned tour alongside Gameday Regulars in 2015, Guerrilla Monsoon are almost constantly on the road.
