While bands were riding the pop heavy pop-punk wave back at the turn of the century, the likes of Sum 41 or Lit were injecting the heavier sound into the mix. Fast forward 14 or 15 years and pop-punk is still surfing the same wave – a wave that despite the naysayers has managed to keep its flow.
Trash Boat, a five-piece from St. Albans, are the newest surfers on the block. Raised on blink-182 and Sum 41, the upstarts showcase their affection for the heavier sound, while making sure nothing is lost in the melody.
‘Boneless’, the newest track taken from their forthcoming ‘Look Alive’ EP, shines a bright light on Trash Boat – a light made brighter by their surprisingly short existence. The band only formed at the start of the year, acting as a means for frontman Tobi Duncan to recover from multiple surgeries. With dedication and drive behind them, and if ‘Boneless’ is anything to go by, this won’t be the last we hear of Trash Boat.
‘Look Alive’ will be released on June 23rd. For more on Trash Boat check out their BandCamp and Facebook pages.
