Sometimes someone tells me to go listen to a band and I end up writing nearly all caps emails to them telling them just how great I think they are. This was the case with Midnight Reruns. Hailing from Milwaukee, WI their self titled album is a perfect mix of punk and rock and roll, excellent dancing music. Today we have a stream of their new EP ‘Get Me Out’ which is out on May 1st. We asked them to tell us a little about the release and their plans for the rest of the year…
“We recorded our second album in November of last year with Tommy Stinson from the Replacements. We’ve been looking for labels that might want to release it, but didn’t want to sit around waiting in the meantime. We hadn’t released any new material for a while, so we recorded some stuff with our friend Steve (from fellow Milwaukee natives Sat. Nite Duets) and put together this EP. Get Me Out is a collection of four songs, one (Ain’t Gonna Find) taken from our upcoming LP, and three exclusive to this release. The Other Man is a cover song, originally done by Milwaukee punk legends the Mistreaters. It will be out May 1st digitally and on a limited run of cassettes.
We’re playing the Fest this year in Gainesville, FL and hope to have our record out by then. We’ll be planning a big US tour around that. the other shows we have on the books are at the Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee, WI May 2nd opening for the Replacements and June 20 at the Metal Grill in Cudahy, WI for Dummerfest with 88 Fingers Louis, Direct Hit!, Tenement, Masked Intruder and a bunch more.”
