Have some brand new tracks from Still Alive

By Maryam Hassan

Chicago based hardcore punks Still Alive have decided to help you smash Thursday in the face with a new track of their new LP ‘Choices’ which is out on Jump Start Records, who they’ve just signed to. We’re having a more indepth chat with the band when we head to Chicago in the next couple of weeks but we got them to tell us a little about the album and what their plans were for the next year…

“The record is called “Choices” and it was recorded last summer at Atlas Studios by Justin Yates. It was finalized, mixed and masted early this year. The mastering was done by Collin Jordan at Boiler Room Studios. Album art and layout was handled by Jason Abraham Smith outta Detroit and is known as Lurk and Destroy. The record touches on a wide range of topics. The game of life basically what we’re focused on. Half of it comes from todays issues rooted in governmental oppression and injustice. The other half is dealing with personal problems like depression and confusion regarding the future. Although these are pretty negative topics, we always try to offer possible solution to overcome these roadblocks and push forward.

We’re hitting the studio with Jeff Dean over at A Million Yen Studios to do a couple cover songs that meant a lot to us growing up and still mean a lot to us. One of the tunes is “Alert, Aware, Involved” by The Code. “Choices” is slated for a late summer release with plenty of touring to follow. We have a couple of cool video projects in the works to coincide with the release. After that, we’ll see where we land, keep writing, and go from there.

‘Choices’ is out on August 25th on Jump Start Records.
