Featuring members of Me Vs Hero (Bobby Pook and Simon Smith), polyesters (Laura Catlow) and Relic (Wil Craig), Downers are likely to surprise fans. The pop-punk of Me Vs Hero in particular is nowhere to be seen. Instead Downers offer a barrage of scuzzy, grunge-punk dominated by the dual vocals – one supplying an almost monotone low register with Catlow’s vocals deliberately subdued by a lo-fi haze.
With their self-recorded EP released towards the end of July 2014, and streaming in full on BandCamp, Downers are exclusively premièring the video for the opening track, ‘Adore’.
With little else set in stone, Downers promise more releases and touring in the near future.
