If you enjoy music that is bold, brash, and noisy, then we have a real treat in store for you today in the shape of an exclusive first play of the new split release from ILL, and His & Hers. Both bands hail from the seaside city of Brighton, and offer up two very different takes on punk rock across the six track EP. ILL – who include members of Dead Swans and Gnarwolves among their ranks – trade in dirty, low-end, grunge infused punk, where as His & Hers have or more frenetic sound to create their controlled chaos, or as they like to call it “sass-punk”.
“We love his & hers, they’ve been our best buds for yonks” says ILL drummer Charlie Piper of the split. “The way they write music is so interesting & spazzy. So we thought what better than playing as many shows as we can together and releasing a split. Those sketchy sass Devils. Listen to MELVINS.”
His & Hers are also particularly fond of ILL it seems. “It’s been really nice doing a split and touring with ILL. We feel doing a split with them perfectly represents the broad-spectrum post hardcore has to offer at the moment. They’re some of the funniest, wittiest people we know, which translates perfectly into their live show. Their driving heavy rawness and weird catchy vocal styling’s are enough to make any Travis fan weak at the knees”
The split is being released on June 22nd via Beach Community, and is available to pre-order digitally and on 10” vinyl limited to just 300 copies. ILL and His & Hers will both play a release show for the split on July 8th at the Quadrant in Brighton, so check the split out below and make sure you get to that show.
