“We wanted to capture the energy of when you first start playing together. A power trio, live, in a room, drums, bass, guitar and voice”, says The Kenneths’ vocalist and guitarist Josh W, speaking of their most recent ‘It’s The Kenneths’ EP. “You’re not entirely sure what you’re doing, which makes it exciting as hell. Also, we could only afford three rehearsals.”
It’s an attitude that has served them well. The London based punks are now gearing up for the release of their second EP, ‘E’, on the 15th June before heading out stateside for their slot on this year’s legendary Warped Tour.
“We have a LOT of fun on stage. We want the shows to be like getting a sweaty punch in the face,” says bassist Lewis Maynard.”It’s been absolutely insane seeing people singing along at shows so early on in our career.”
The Kenneths brought in British YouTuber and comedian Thomas Gray for their latest video, ‘Ain’t Got No Game’ – taken from their debut EP, available now. It sees him attempt to beef up using a broken abs toner. “We thought it would be funny to see a guy going about his everyday business completely unaware that he’s being violently electrocuted.” says bassist Lewis Maynard, “And obviously he has to die at the end.”
“The video makes no sense whatsoever, but why does everything have to make sense?” concludes Josh.
Completed by drummer Aicha, The Kenneths are ready to make their mark with straightforward and energetic punk. Watch the video for ‘Ain’t Got No Game’ below and grab their new EP from the 15th June.
