We imagine it’s quite difficult to shake off being in American Pie. The accolade has followed Thomas Nicolas around for some time, although he doesn’t seem to be particularly bothered about it. Having grown up in the middle of the American Pie generation (presumably how we will be remembered in the future), music does seem to be the most logical route for the somewhat introverted character of Kevin to pursue.
Removing the American Pie connotations, Thomas Nicholas proves on ‘Security’ that music may indeed be his calling. The title track to his forthcoming album, it follows the previously unveiled ‘Don’t Stop’, and showcases a sort of grunge-meets-Americana rock style.
‘Security’ arrives as the result of a PledgeMusic campaign, which saw Nicholas affiliate with St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital which focuses on the treatment of catastrophic disease. Not shying away from his past, Pledgers were also privy to some exclusive signed American Pie memorabilia.
“We shot it at this cool little spot called South Town in Springfield, IL. It has one Of the longest running indoor skatepark in the US (25years) called Skank Skates and the longest all ages club called Black Sheep,” Nicholas explains of the video for ‘Security’. “Plus Dumb Records – Boof City Skate Shop and a recording studio, that also house a weekly radio podcast.”
