The band submitted their demo for me to review, but it wouldn’t download and my emails bounced so I decided to instead review the songs on the band’s myspace player. And thank fuck I did because As We Sink are blinding. Like a UK version of Strike Anywhere, they have riffs, energy, passion, honesty and a really fiery singer to boot. For a three-piece they can make quite the din. There are so many highlights – the gang vocals in ‘All’s Not Lost‘ and the pure energy and the riffs in ‘How To Kick A Shark (In The Teeth)’ both belie just how talented this band is compared to how long they’ve been around. I love a band with balls (no sexual innuendo meant…) and when this band really push the pedal to the floor they sound brilliant, certainly up there with the best homegrown bands of this type. I’ll be keeping a close eye on these guys and I suggest you do too.
