August Burns Red – Constellations

By paul

Some reviews need hundreds, maybe even thousands, of words to explain. Others need just a few. ABR’s new record can be summed up pretty easily. It’s the band’s heaviest album yet; a fierce, aggressive fucker that will pummel you to an inch of your life. But for all the aggression and intensity it’s a record that doesn’t really cover too much new ground. At 47 mins ish in length it’s an album that sticks around too long and is probably 3 songs too many. It’s good for what it is, but what it is, sadly, is predictable and boring. Intense and aggressive this may be, but bands lose points if they sound the same as their peers. ‘Constellations’ does nothing for me at all I’m afraid.
