First time I switched this EP on and ‘Commissoner’ started up I immediately thought of Boy Sets Fire. I played this for a few friends and none of them could hear it. I got suggestions of Hundred Reasons, Far, Deftones (without the aggression)… but no-one else could hear BSF. Maybe it’s just the effect on the vocals, the slight echo or delay. Maybe it’s me. Either way I quite like this two-tracker, it whets the old apetite and leaves you wanting that little bit more which is always a good sign. It has a 90s post-hardcore vibe, it’s certainly not ‘current’ sounding and that’s a good thing. It’s ‘fresh’ even though it has this old style to it. ‘Just Run Away’ is equally as good and atmospheric, again with an effect on the vocals that brings them out a little.
