Breathe Carolina – Hell Is What You Make It

By Tom Aylott

Electro, metalcore and disco are three realms rarely spliced into one, but Breathe Carolina have gone genre-hyphenate-crazy for their latest album ‘Hell Is What You Make It’.

Snobbery aside, ‘Hell Is What You Make It’ is a sure fire snaffle fest for the banger-hungry mouths of generation-Facedown. The Colorado duo channel electronic dance vibes a la Skrillex and precisely placed screeches creating thirteen tracks of energetic dub-rock.

Previous bad press and quiet mockery aside, Breathe Carolina actually haven’t done a completely terrible job this time around. Checking most of the screamo at the studio door it seems they’ve found their niche: stilton-scented 90’s skirting, electro-core.

Musos will definitely pretend to hate it, but guaranteed this album will soundtrack gym runs, savage commutes and pre-parties alike. Cue ‘Sweat It Out’, ‘Blackout’ and ‘Waiting’ for lambrini swigging good times.

No, Hell Is What You Make It is not total garbage. It is Breathe Carolina.
