There’s a distinct Alexisonfire-esque twist to Brides‘ take on things. They have their roots in so many different genres it’s difficult to classify them in any one particular genre. There’s some wicked melodies and twists in the same way Dallas Green and George Petit manage to do – ‘Almanac’ nails this perfectly with some overblown guitar work which would put Coheed and Cambria to shame. But the band never hang around one particular style long enough to plagarise anyone’s work, leaving tracks such as ‘The Flood’ and the impressive ‘Mercy Fuck The Vessel’ to twist and turn and bang and bite with some fury and energy. ‘High Charity’ really is an impressive piece of work and I doubt Brides will remain unsigned for long. The execution is nigh on perfect and their vision should not be underestimated either. As impressive a homegrown EP release as I’ve heard in a long time.
