Pacific Ridge’s BRIGHT AND EARLY are hoping to build on the good reputation of their last EP with new four track effort ‘Getting Through It’, and for all the swelling whispers of saturation in the pop-punk revival coming soon, the band sound fresh, important and genuine.
Opener ‘Stick By Me’ is an day-dreamy acoustic effort that might mislead the casual listener from what the band break into after, but it’s a simple break of formula that grabs attention with understatement, and sets the rest of the EP up nicely.
From there in, the band never seem to settle into sounding much like anyone else, but there’s so many familiar elements that makes you feel right at home that it’s immensely listenable.
Overall, ‘Getting Through It’ sets the band up for a full-length perfectly, and is a snappy and cohesive four track effort that’s well worth checking out. Fans of anything from Saves The Day to Motion City Soundtrack via. more classic pop-punk bands will have plenty to find here, and you’d be ill-advised not to give it at least a spin or two.
