Deaf Havana – Meet Me Halfway, At Least

By paul

Deaf Havana are rapidly becoming the critics’ darlings and as homegrown talent they’re doing a great job of raising the profile of their particular genre. I would argue that Deaf Havana don’t exactly break down genre boundaries, but nonetheless they do what they do very well and are sure to generate a buzz with this album. They mix up the post-hardcore sounds, throwing in vocals and screams and do it all well. It’s not perfect and tends to drift along and be a couple of songs too long by the end, but it’s ballsy and gutsy and shows a high level of musicianship. The band also keep it firmly British, featuring guest vocals from Gustav Wood of Young Guns on ‘3 Cheers For The Easy Life’ and Johnathon Thorne of All Forgotten on ‘Right Now, I’m Anyone’s’. This record will be loved by some and liked by many – and I’m sure the band can lead the charge against their more popular American friends.
