Decade – Decade

By Tom Aylott

With this self-titled release DECADE probably aren’t going to win any awards for being genre smashers, but there’s nothing wrong with crisp, up-beat pop punk, and the band do enough to set themselves apart to stay interesting.

The execution is excellent throughout, and opener ‘Never Enough‘ is full of the sort of energy that’s essential in turning a few heads. ‘Home Alone’ is probably the strongest track on the record because it carries the most individual character of the five tracks on display, but it’s definitely worth checking the band out on the merit of the whole EP.

Lazy comparisons (in the UK at least) will lead you to SAVE YOUR BREATH, but DECADE‘s unique delivery will do them great favours going forward, and it means that they’re well worth a listen for even the most seasoned pop punk nerds. It’d be great to see them refine their sound further on their next release as there’s plenty of room to grow, but there’s no doubt that they’ve got all the potential to do just that.
