Imagine a Scandanavian AFI-tribute act and Desperado won’t be too far from your thoughts. With a vocalist who switches from a Davey Havok scream to a The Hives sound in the blink of an eye, Desperado aren’t the most imaginative band around. This self-titled album is 11 tracks of energetic rock music, but the songs tend to blend in with one another and to be quite honest half-way through I found myself really losing interest – not because this album is particularly bad, it’s just a bit bland. ‘Cut Some Slack For The Retarded’ is worth checking out if you’re interested, but the rest, well, you can take it or leave it for me.
