Elan Vitale describe themselves as ‘post-punk’ and claim to be influenced by Joy Division and Interpol but they’re none of those things. This three-track demo, which you can hear on the band’s myspace, is just a bog-standard demo produced by the type of band you see supporting everyone down at the Dog and Duck. They don’t really have any catchy songs, the production is very poor, the song structures are laughable and the vocals are wobbly. A few years ago we got sent demos like this on a regular basis but, and I don’t know why, quality of demos seems to have got better. Nobody told this band who struggle along for three songs and get absolutely nowhere. Sorry guys, but this is desperately poor stuff.
