Fin Raziel – Fallout EP

By paul

We get a variety of different bands to review here at PT, but not too many sound like Fin Raziel. They claim to have a ‘wall of sound approach to dynamics’, but I think they sound a bit like Radiohead tribute band covering a The Killers tribute band. Perhaps with some Muse thrown in. It’s not bad, it’s just not very ‘punk’ or very ‘tastic’ and certainly not anything in between. I guess they’re pretty good at what they do because ‘Human After All’, despite being overly drenched in synth, has a catchy chorus. I’m not overly keen on the Matt Bellamy-esque vocals in ‘Nasty Little Secret’ though, which do seem to drift away down the indie-rock side of things. Sadly, that’s not for me.

I have no idea why FR sent this in to review because I just don’t see how they either sound anything like any bands we cover or how they’re even influenced by any of the bands we write about. ‘Fallout’ is reasonably good for what it is, it’s just not my thing and they’re possibly promoting themselves at the wrong demographic.
