Glass Avalanche – Glass Avalanche

By Andy

You’d be forgiven for thinking of Teeside as one of the lesser relevant areas in the UK when it comes to exporting high-energy, fun and fast punk-rock, although northern noiseniks GLASS AVALANCHE are proving that it’s not all that grim up right up t’top.

‘Paper Tiger’ unleashes the quintet’s self-titled EP in typical British indie-punk fashion – it may not necessarily be ground-breaking but there’s no denying the hints and glimmers of future promise embedded within each catchy chorus and rabid riff. ‘Bloodshot Eyes‘ is exuberant indie rock fury at its finest, and their melody driven sound is a raucous riot delivered with utmost urgency.

‘3am Chorus’ sounds like Frank Turner‘s punky dabblings, albeit sugar-coated, while still hitting all the right notes. Anthemic closer ‘Sweet Beginnings To Sour Endings’ highlights Glass Avalanche‘s poppy-rock aesthetic and is evocative of the ever-prevalent British scene growing from strength to strength as time passes on. A wrecking ball of punk’d up passion and popped up perfection, ‘Glass Avalanche‘ is just under thirteen minutes of invigorating cheer. Personal and introspective, the EP is perhaps not the face of new music, but it’s definitely a start.
