Gnarwolves – Fun Club

By Tom Aylott

Towards the back end of 2011, GNARWOLVES released their debut EP ‘Fun Club’. We streamed it on the site not so long ago but sadly haven’t reviewed it until now, so we’re going to put that right without any delay;

Despite and because of the factFun Club’ is a bit scrappy and the production leaves a lot to be desired, it’s an endearing listen that shows off a whole stack of potential. As the five tracks on display are less than ten minutes in length and bookend by the two strongest tracks in ‘Party Jams’ ‘Chlorine In The Jean Pule’ respectively, it’s a great tease of what the band are capable and leaves a desire to hear more on every listen.

Anyone that enjoys punk from the No Idea and Lookout! catalogues will be right at home, and if GNARWOLVES follow up the EP with another strong release or two, 2012 promises to be a year of swift growth for the band.

Our advice – make sure you get familiar and get out and see GNARWOLVES doing the rounds now, because with a year or two of hard work and a bit luck, you’ll be seeing them in much bigger venues and on much bigger bills.
