A nice noisy debut this one with a guy from Majority Rule and someone else from Pg. 99 who I’m not ashamed to say I’ve never heard of. And another guy who isn’t on this record but now is in the band used to be in City of Caterpillar. Who are great.
Think of a fragrant blend of noise and punk, slashed with a bit of hardcore. It’s engaging stuff that draws you right in with dissonant dual guitar lines backed up by a fully competent and imaginative rhythm section. Vocals are of the Sonic Youthesque variety and have been compressed to within an inch of decency.
Opener ‘Sale’ sets the pace for a mid-tempo cruising record, things pick up a little with ‘Out of Tune’ and ‘Slob’ is a dirty fat slab of feedback-driven punk rock done proper. To be honest I think this one may be a little hard to come across, Lovitt Records are based in Arlington Virginia, but I’d definitely check out their site if you want to make a punt with this one. It’s a good response to haircut driven punk and is refreshingly honest.
