Heideroosjes have been around for 18 years now, which seems incredible for a band in this day and age. They’ve even won a Dutch Grammy for God’s sake! With Cameron Webb at the mixing desk they arguably sound better than ever, and this record, their eighth album, is as good as any they’ve released. While they’re not doing anything particularly new, they’re a band that do what they do well – and boy, is ‘Chapter Eight…’ filled with good songs.
Matching the punk rock attitude the band have always been known for, this record contains a clutch of songs ranging from the poppy ‘LEKKER BELANGRIJK’ to ‘Forgotten Continent’, a track which features Zoli Teglas of Ignite and is as aggressive and spiteful as the band have been. Hell, even Lemmy of Motorhead pops up at one point for a little spoken word cameo. While nothing we’ve not heard and seen before, Heideroosjes are a credit to Dutch punk rock and this album maintains the high standards we’ve come to expect.
