Hailing from Southend, this three-track EP showcases a rather generic pop-rock sound that isn’t quite catchy or unique enough to have any kind of lasting impact. Each of the three songs on offer is competent, but if you’re going to be a pop-punk band of any standing, you really need to have sweet-as-a-nut harmonies and some killer choruses. And I don’t think Hollywood Actress have either. ‘Don’t You Know’ has a crunchy guitar line but I feel the vocals are weak and lack power, while ‘Another Year’ again doesn’t quite hit the mark. The three songs on offer are competent, but I’m not convinced enough to keep listening.
