This is a nice little demo – Irrelevant may have a pretty horrible name, but their sound is far, far better. The Glaswegians themselves say they’re influenced by ’emo to Latin jazz, from metal to 70s funk’ and these sounds do shine through on this three-track demo. At times the trio sound like Million Dead, especially the way in which vocalists Tom and Richy allow their vocals to soar, while at others the sound they create could have come from the Appleseed Cast; all time changes and choppy guitars. The fact that they’re all still in their teens, and been a band for several years, has certainly done them no harm. What the band need to do is build on their obvious talents, play live as much as they can and get their name out – after that, their music will almost certainly do the talking.
