I can’t say I’m overly enthused with this album, the band’s first on Victory. Victory seem to go through signing spurts and this mob were among the recent batch of bands to come through the ranks. But as Secret Lives of the Freemasons and a couple of others are destined for bigger things, Jamies Elsewhere (and their lack of an apostrophe) just aren’t catchy enough or aggressive enough to fit into any genre; they’re one of those bands that try a little too much, throw it all in together and hope it sticks. There are elements of Coheed and Cambria, elements of A Day To Remember and other bands that sound a little bit like those two, but they’re not as good as any of them. The catchy bits just aren’t catchy enough – ‘Late Nights’ hints at better things but the band just can’t consistently keep it up and grab my attention for any period of time. It’s all, well, a bit generic and predictable.
