Last Chance – What Did You Expect?

By paul

Bolton five-piece Last Chance sound like a Manc Arctic Monkeys. They’re not punk in the slightest and so should probably remove that classification from their myspace, but they asked nicely and so here’s a short review. I’ll be honest, it’s not my thing. I like some indie music but it needs a hook and a big one at that to draw me in. In places Last Chance have singable sections and classy riffs. But it’s a bit hit and miss – ‘Where Do We Go’ has choppy riffs that beg for handclaps, ‘Back to the Old Beat’ is indie by numbers. If you like your music to be no frills and British sounding, this lot could be worth a listen. But they’d be better served by the NME crowd than one which likes to winge and whine a lot (ie, PT).
