Laughing In The Face Of – Angry Man With Frying Pan EP

LITFO like Rufio and Slick Shoes. A Lot. That’s no bad thing because I’m quite partial to a bit of both and let’s be honest, there aren’t enough bands doing the technical skate punk thing right now, let alone doing it well. LITFO are West Midlands-based, so it seems odd that their sound comes straight out of So Cal, but I’ll forgive them. This 8-minute and three track EP is nothing more than a sample of what the band can do, but it serves its purpose pretty well and whets the apetite for a bit more.

The one down side is that this is nowhere neare nough to make a real opinion of how good LITFO could be – with two full songs and an instrumental, it’s impossible to tell if the band have what it takes to make an impact. What there is here makes for sound listening, although the sound does borrow heavily from the likes of Rufio or Ten Foot Pole. They are good comparisons to have mind; LITFO are clearly a talented band but I’d like to hear more of them and less of their US influences. Still, ‘6.5 Minutes Per Second’ shows more than enough promise to suggest they could do something in the future, and that’s enough for me to keep my beady eye on them.
