Laughing In The Face Of – Technically it’s not our fault

By paul

There’s a massive shortage of bands like LITFO. There’s not enough balls to the wall, rock out with your cock out punk rock played at a million miles an hour with vocal harmonies coming at you from every angle. Bands like Bigwig and a million other EpiFat acts are surely due a resurgence. Maybe Pendleton can influence those Yanks on Warped Tour this summer. Anyway, while LITFO aren’t perfect, this 8-tracker is a lot of fun and perfect for a summer’s day. It fills the void left behind by the lack of passionate, perky pop-punk and has inspired me to dig out old No Use For A Name and Diesel Boy albums.

At times LITFO are a little sloppy and too fast for their own good. ‘Last Stand for Idle Bones’ has all the right elements but it doesn’t quite work. But when it does work, as it does on ‘Slices’ and the wicked ‘Sex Punch’, LITFO are in their element. The speed of their music is something to be admired and not only do they play fast but they hit hard. The vocals are pretty good throughout and the use of harmonies works nicely. Thumbs up for persisting with sound as far from fashionable as is around right now, and thumbs up too for doing a damn good job in the process.
