Leaf Fat – Underworld Kingdom

By paul

1. Weird band name. Unless it’s some Slovenian cuss on my mother’s name or something.
2. They sound like Lost Prophets/lostprophets/whatever.
3. THERE IS NO THREE.

It’s difficult to start sounding off here without coming across as slightly racist towards our eastern/central European cousins, but ah well. This is pretty much what one would expect from a band coming from that region – nothing special, by the books and pretty outdated. Like the stereotypical obsession with early 90s techno, Leaf Fat are an amalgamation of the late 90s/early millennium punkmetal acts. Screaming here, breakdowns there and a vocalist that sounds oh-so-slightly gay (I’ve already offended the centro-eastern Europeans, may as well take down the homosexual community too).

It isn’t like it’s a particularly bad album, it’s just everything blends into one. Everything that’s done here has been done before and has been done a hell of a lot better. On the plus side, the press release was so lovely I wanted to cuddle it.
