There’s nothing better than a good surprise. LESS THAN JAKE‘s so called “follow up” to last year’s ‘Greetings From…’ EP sees the band take another dip into the “classic” LESS THAN JAKE sound – much to the same effect.
It’s not rocket science, and it’s barely doing anything with their own sound, but it’s LESS THAN JAKE doing what they do best – making great ska punk. They’re the masters of the genre, and though they may have alienated a portion of their fans on their last few full length efforts, these two EPs are brilliant, and if you’ve still got a taste for the third wave, then you’ll be very happy indeed.
Ska punk isn’t fashionable any more, but who gives a fuck when LESS THAN JAKE are still capable of releasing high quality EPs on their own terms, and without even announcing them to anyone before they do so? It’s a refreshing approach from the band, and though it may not bring in hordes of new fans, it’ll certainly keep the faith with existing fans in this, the band’s 20th year.
