Little bit of an introduction then. This is the self-ttled and self-released debut EP from Preston’s unsigned Next Stop Atlanta. It was produced by Matty O’Grady (You Me At Six) and yes they have a female singer, but let’s keep away from any Hayley Williams comparisons please.
This 4 track affair features the debut single ‘I’ll Catch Fire’ and this is the strongest song on the album. There’s no denying this is a catchy opener and it’s clearly also what gets the most attention from a production perspective as well. The guitar has a very slight resemblance to Four Year Strong but this is a lot more pop-orientated.
Overall the EP is Pop/Rock with three upbeat tracks that offer some promise of a potentially bright future and certainly worthy of a record contract, even if there are a lot of similarities between them. There is also an acoustic 4th track. PT has a bit of a reputation for not liking acoustic tracks on records – this will be no different. It doesn’t add anything to the EP and to make it work a really good voice and excellent lyrics are needed, unfortunately neither of these are on show. All in all though this is a good little EP that will further enhance this young band’s recent exposure.
