No Guts No Glory – Hidden In The Light

By Andy

Gang vocals have become increasingly popular over the last two years, with the rise of hardcore music confidently taking over the underground scene of the UK, and elsewhere alike. NO GUTS NO GLORY aren’t any different; the power-hungry quintet, originally from France, have installed a plentiful amount of gang-shouts throughout their debut release ‘Hidden In The Light’.

Fans of bands like Death Is Not Glamorous and The Killing Flame will not be disappointed, but NGNG are not likely to tickle the taste buds of the fainthearted. There are but a few punk-fused hardcore bands that really know how to rise above their peers, with Gallows and Bring Me The Horizon leading the frontline; something that clearly doesn’t stop the overseas musicians from achieving their goal.

There is no question that NGNG deliver an energetic collection of guitar driven punk-core songs; however, the gang vocals and power-charged music allows the lead vocals to weaken with every track. With a trace of nineties punk rock running through the veins of ‘Hidden In The Light’, you will however be reminiscing about your musical upbringing throughout.
