Pettybone – EP

By Andy

you find an all-female quartet (Hearts Under Fire excluded). Fortunately, London-based Pettybone are exactly that. Claiming to be “the sound of the revolt”, the back-to-basics punk rockers instantaneously declare that you can follow your dreams even when shot down; stating that you should never give up.

With the powerful message behind their music, you can sense the anger in their music as they thrash through their three-song EP, almost as if this was their one opportunity to make a statement. Appearing to follow the DIY attitude much like the hard-hitting female-fronted rockers The Distillers, Pettybone similarly share harsh vocals with Brody Dalle.

It’s inspiring to see musicians of this day and age hitting out with the same influential essence as significant artists like The Clash and Ramones; however, with the direction in which today’s music industry is heading, it’s difficult for a passionate style of music such as punk/hardcore to be appreciated, especially when it incorporates such a powerful message like this quartet does.
