Pray For Hayden – Demo

By paul

Pray For Hayden have managed to really impress me with their 3-track CD, and stick out from the crowd with some songs that show real flair and originality. The Leeds four-piece have managed to find a relatively untapped niche of music that sits somewhere between Hot Hot Heat and At The Drive-In, and while this might not be to everyone’s taste, don’t write them off straight away.

The demo didn’t come with a track listing, but the first track is the stand out; a catchy as hell number which is chaotic as well as being brilliantly written. The other songs never reach the quality of the first song but do come close. The dual vocals in the final song work very well together, opening plenty of opportunities for crowd sing-a-longs. I think that the production of the CD has let the band down a bit, and I think the band could sound even better live.

Pray For Hayden are only a short way away from being the finished article. I genuinely feel that with a better produced CD and a couple more songs that match the energy and quality of the first track, the band could win a whole legion of new fans.
